A Pam Grier Biopic Is On The Way

by Yah Yah

Pam Grier‘s life is to be made into a biographical film and casting for the film has already begun.

According to Deadline, the movie has tentatively been titled, Pam, and has reportedly cast Jay Pharoah as Richard Pryor, who dated the first leading lady of blaxploitation in the 70s. Their relationship broke down due to Pryor’s addiction to cocaine. Speaking on the relationship, Grier says:

“Just as I couldn’t change the attacks or the people who attacked me. I couldn’t change Richard. I couldn’t change Freddie or Kareem. And I realized it’s not about changing other people, it’s about changing myself. And that is what I want to tell people with this, that there will be pain in life, but you can survive it, and it will make you stronger and protect you from other instances. I wanted to save their lives, but I had to save my own.”

Grier has enjoyed a lengthy career, with roles in many shows including Law & Order SVU, Linc‘s and Smallville. In 1998, she received Best Actress nominations for both the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Golden Globes.

Currently, there is no date set for the biopic’s release.
