Amina Buddafly landing a national Dunkin’ Donuts campaign should have been a clear win. Instead, the commercial has ignited a loud online debate, with some viewers accusing the ad of leaning too far into sexualized imagery.

The video, now circulating widely on social media, features Amina Buddafly performing a low, strength-heavy yoga pose that demands balance and serious core control. She’s close to the floor, palms pressed into the mat, arms bent and engaged as she supports her body weight. Her legs extend outward while hovering, creating a wide stance that immediately draws the eye. Between her legs sits a pink yoga block, carefully balancing a Dunkin’ protein refresher.

That visual choice is what sparked the conversation.

As Amina holds the pose, she takes a sip and delivers the product pitch, describing the drink as creamy, refreshing, and packed with 15 grams of protein. She takes another long pull from the straw before the clip ends. Dunkin’s branding flashes phrases like “extra creamy” and “extra sweet,” and for some viewers, the combination of wording, camera angles, and body positioning felt deliberate.

Some fans argued the ad did exactly what it was designed to do: grab attention. Others questioned why a coffee commercial needed that kind of framing at all. Several viewers said they couldn’t get past what they described as a heavy focus on her lower body, while others joked that the pose itself wasn’t the issue; it was where the product was placed and how the scene was shot.

There were also voices pushing back against the criticism. A number of supporters pointed out that Amina Buddafly is an athlete with a strong yoga and wellness background, and that holding such a pose takes discipline, strength, and control. To them, the outrage felt selective, especially in an industry where women’s bodies are routinely scrutinized no matter what they do.

Just last year, Buddafly revealed that she and her two daughters were without a permanent home after losing their residence in Los Angeles. In a candid TikTok, the former Love & Hip Hop: New York cast member shared that she had relocated to Hamburg, Germany, her hometown, and let go of most of her belongings in the process.

What are your thoughts on the commercial?
