A’ja Wilson has signed the largest contract in WNBA history, securing a three-year, $5 million deal with the Las Vegas Aces as the league enters a new era of player earnings.
The historic agreement comes on the heels of a new collective bargaining agreement between the WNBA and its players, which created room for top talent to earn significantly higher salaries. A’ja moved quickly, locking in a fully guaranteed supermax deal that reflects both her dominance on the court and her value to the franchise. The contract, negotiated by Jade-Li English of Klutch Sports Group, marks a milestone moment for the league’s evolving financial landscape.
A’ja’s journey to this point has been defined by consistent excellence. She entered the WNBA as the No. 1 overall pick in 2018 after leading the University of South Carolina, under coach Dawn Staley, to its first national championship in 2017. From the moment she arrived in Las Vegas, she established herself as a cornerstone of the Aces’ success.
Over the years, A’ja has built one of the most decorated careers in league history. She is the only player in the WNBA to win four MVP awards, a distinction she achieved before turning 30. Her impact has extended beyond individual accolades, as she helped guide the Aces to three WNBA championships under head coach Becky Hammon, earning Finals MVP honors twice along the way.

Her consistency on both ends of the floor has set her apart. A’ja is a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, a seven-time All-Star, and a six-time All-WNBA selection. Standing at 6-foot-4, the forward has led the league in scoring twice and in blocks five times, while maintaining a strong presence as a rebounder and playmaker.
In recent seasons, she has delivered at an elite level, averaging a double-double in back-to-back years. Across her career, A’ja has posted averages of 21.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.1 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game, while shooting efficiently from the field, beyond the arc, and at the free-throw line. Her scoring average stands as the highest in WNBA history.
Aces general manager Nikki Fargas praised A’ja’s influence on and off the court, noting her role in elevating the franchise and setting a standard for excellence. With this new deal, A’ja remains at the center of the Aces’ future, continuing a partnership that has already delivered championships and reshaped expectations for player performance and compensation in the WNBA.
