Gayle Patrice King (born December 28, 1954) is an award-winning American television personality, journalist, and author.
She is best known as co-host of CBS Mornings (formerly CBS This Morning), where she has delivered thoughtful, empathetic interviews with world leaders, celebrities, and everyday people since 2012.

King also serves as editor-at-large for Oprah Daily and hosts a weekly radio show on SiriusXM.
Born in Chevy Chase, Maryland, King spent part of her childhood in Turkey before returning to the U.S. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in psychology.

Her broadcasting career began at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, where she first met Oprah Winfrey. After working in several markets, she anchored at WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut, for 18 years.
King later hosted her own shows on OWN and XM Satellite Radio before joining CBS News.
A close friend of Oprah Winfrey since 1976, King is widely admired for her warmth, integrity, and journalistic skill. She has conducted high-profile interviews with figures including Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, R. Kelly, and many others. In 2025, she made history as one of the first female journalists to travel to space aboard Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission.
King is the mother of two children, Kirby and William “Will” Bumpus Jr., and resides in New York City.
