Academy Award-winning actress, Mo'Nique is not happy with streaming giants Netflix and has accused them of both color and gender bias.
Mo'Nique's claims that Netflix offered her a measly $500,000 for a stand-up special in comparison to Amy Schumer who received $13 million and Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle who both got $20 million each. The Precious star feels that she too, is a comedy legend and the pay should reflect that. In a video posted to her Instagram account, she asks her followers to have her back, stating,
"I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias. I was offered a $500,000 deal last week to do a comedy special. However, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle $20 million.”
She also headed to Swayto speak in more depth about her feud with Netflix, and discusses a possible reconciliation with Lee Daniels, who she alleges only paid her $50,000 for her supporting role in Precious. The film made grossed $60 million worldwide.
Do you stand with Mo'Nique? Should she receive the same $20 million Chapelle and Rock received? Surely she's put in more work and contributed more to the culture and the entertainment industry that Amy Schumer, who relies of crude racist jokes and played out stereotypes to stay relevant?
Will you be boycotting Netflix?
