Our #WCW Is Food Network Star’s Toya Boudy | @ChefToya @FoodNetwork

New Orleans Personal Chef Toya Boudy‘s traditional New Orleans home cooking style has earned her the moniker “Gumbo Queen.” It has been a whirlwind year for the NOLA star who was a finalist on the Food Network‘s show, Food Network Star and winner of Hallmark Home & Family‘s Best Home Cook – and we aren’t even through the summer yet!

We’ve been following Chef Toya on social media for quite some time now, and it’s near impossible to miss her mesmeric ‘fro.

ShineMyCrown.com asked Chef Toya for her hair care secrets.

“I have a HUGE afro. I just don’t have time for my hair. I need to grow it longer so I can master updos and such. I don’t use anything! I truthfully think that’s why my hair is so strong. And also, I wash it maybe once a month when it’s out. I’ve only clipped it once in four years and didn’t really need it. Nothing works best for me and my face never breaks out nor is my scalp itchy… I just don’t think it’s worth it. Products cost so much, man. Maybe if I saw the clear benefits I would.”

And on her rising fame, Chef Toya Boudy is equally as unpretentious when labeled her a ‘star’:

*Laughs* Am I considered to be that? You’d know better than me. I’m in my own shoes, you know? From the inside, it feels like I’m on a fast moving train with many stops but yet continuing on to the destination. At this point, I just check my ticket from time to time to make sure I don’t miss a stopping point. I didn’t expect the Hallmark win to happen but it came out of nowhere. So all of this proves that I’m not technically in control, I’m just playing my part.

We are excited to see what the future holds for Chef Toya Boudy. In the meantime, check out this live demonstration of her whipping up a bowl of Creole Shrimp and Grits. Enjoy!
