Megan Thee Stallion Covers Essence: I Figured Out That My Personal Space Is What Keeps Me Balanced’

Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion is the face of ESSENCE Magazine’s latest cover.

Meg’s rise to the mainstream was meteoric — but not without its share of controversy on heartbreak. Her experiences, both positive and negative, had led to rapper to learn from her past mistakes/ She now keeps her circle tight.

Maintaining her peace is everything.

“There are probably approximately four people around me on a daily basis,” she tells the publication. “I don’t see a lot of people, I don’t talk to a lot of people, because I feel like it’s not good for me. I figured out that my personal space is what keeps me balanced and it’s what keeps me centered.”

The Houston Hottie had racked up numerous awards in her short career. She’s landed huge endorsement deals. Churned out clothing collections and became the first rapper to feature on the cover of Sports Illustrated last month.

Meg says she has a new album in the works. But fans can expect more fire from the already fiery Hottie.

“I feel like [my new album] will be aggressive,” she says. “I feel like this project is definitely something very well thought out. This project is me talking my s–t, getting back comfortable with myself, getting back to the Megan that was on the come-up.”

However… Meg’s reign isn’t even close to being over. While she’s still studying her craft and evolving as an artist. And every move is calculated. She recently debuted her collabs with Calvin Klein and Bape. She has collections with Revlon and is a Savage x Fenty ambassador.

“Every time I make a move, I’m like, ‘Okay, how can we be better than Megan last month?'” she says. “‘How can we be better than Megan last year?'”
