Robin Roberts (born November 23, 1960) is an American television broadcaster, journalist, and author best known as the longtime co-anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America.

A former standout college basketball player and ESPN sportscaster, Roberts has become one of the most trusted and beloved figures in American television.

Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, and raised in Pass Christian, Mississippi, Roberts graduated cum laude from Southeastern Louisiana University, where she was a star on the women’s basketball team.

She began her career in local sports broadcasting before joining ESPN in 1990, where she spent 15 years and became the first woman to co-host NFL Primetime. In 2005, she joined Good Morning America, helping lead the show back to the top of the morning ratings.

Roberts has openly shared her health battles, including breast cancer in 2007 and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) in 2012, for which she received a life-saving bone marrow transplant.

Her courageous coverage of her own journey earned a Peabody Award. A three-time New York Times bestselling author, she continues to inspire audiences through her work, faith, and advocacy for health awareness.

In 2023, Roberts married longtime partner Amber Laign. She remains one of television’s most respected and influential voices.
