Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to a New York hospital after falling ill mid-performance during her Broadway run in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, cutting short a highly anticipated appearance and raising immediate concern among fans.
The incident unfolded Tuesday night when the Grammy-winning rapper, who recently made her Broadway debut, began experiencing symptoms while on stage. Despite attempting to continue, she later shared that her condition made it impossible to finish the performance.
“I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance, but I just couldn’t,” Megan wrote on social media the following day, explaining that she had been pushing herself beyond her limits. She added that the experience left her shaken after ignoring earlier warning signs from her body.
Her representatives confirmed that she was taken to a hospital shortly after leaving the stage, where medical evaluations were conducted. Doctors determined that she was dealing with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels.
Following treatment, Megan was discharged and is now resting. Her team said she is grateful for the support she has received and is focused on recovering quickly.
The Houston rapper also reassured fans that her time on Broadway is not over. She confirmed plans to return to the stage, telling supporters she intends to come back stronger and ready to deliver the performance they expect.
Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, began her limited Broadway run on March 24, stepping into the role of Harold Zidler, the flamboyant master of ceremonies in the production. The casting marked a notable crossover from music to theater and drew widespread attention as one of the season’s standout moments.
She is scheduled to remain in the role through May 17, continuing a run that has already generated significant buzz. The character of Zidler has previously been portrayed by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein, who originated the role on Broadway, and more recently by Bob the Drag Queen during a limited engagement.
