A viral video surfaced claiming to show Ashlee Jenae and her fiancé Joe McCann involved in a tense hotel chase in Tanzania shortly before Ashlee’s death.
Now, Joe McCann’s legal team is strongly denying that the footage is real, calling it an AI-generated deepfake.
The clip, which quickly spread across social media platforms, appears to show a woman being chased by a bald man through a hotel hallway and stairwell. Online posts attached the footage to Ashlee and Joe, with users claiming it captured moments from the couple’s trip to Tanzania before Ashlee was found dead inside her hotel room earlier this year.
According to reports, Joe McCann’s attorney, Edward Andrew Paltzik, firmly rejected the claims surrounding the video. Speaking on the situation, he said, “This video is an atrocious deep fake. We are investigating who is responsible for peddling this garbage and will be taking forceful legal action.”
The renewed attention comes months after Ashlee’s tragic death during what was meant to be a birthday getaway in Tanzania. The trip had initially been a celebratory one for the couple, especially after Ashlee and Joe reportedly got engaged just days before her death.
Authorities in Tanzania launched an investigation following the discovery of Ashlee’s body in her hotel room. During that time, Joe remained in the country for several weeks while cooperating with investigators. Reports later confirmed he was cleared to leave Tanzania and eventually returned to the United States.
Now, the viral hotel footage has added another layer to an already widely discussed case online. As speculation continues across social media, Joe’s legal team insists the circulating clip is fabricated and says they are preparing to pursue legal action against those spreading it.
