Latto is giving fans plenty to talk about on her new album Big Mama, and one track in particular has listeners revisiting her history with Cardi B.
The Atlanta rapper appears to reference the Grammy-winning star on the song “Gimme Dat,” reigniting conversations about a feud that many believed had already been settled.
The moment arrives during a verse in which Latto raps, “Bitch said what? Let’s clock it / Really got a Hermes store in my closet / Talkin’ ‘bout buyin’ big mama a bag like my n***a ain’t already bought it.”
The lyrics quickly caught the attention of fans because they seem to reference an incident from last year involving a leaked phone call allegedly featuring Cardi B. In the audio, which spread across social media in the fall, a voice believed by many listeners to be Cardi could be heard speaking about Latto in an emotional rant.
In the clip, the voice says, “I’mma show y’all, I’m not Latto. I’mma beat her the fuck up. I’mma knock her the fuck out.” The speaker later referred to the rapper as “pussy ass Latto,” a phrase that immediately fueled speculation about tension between the two artists.
The leak generated widespread discussion online, prompting Cardi to publicly address the situation. Shortly afterward, she issued an apology on X, making it clear that she still had respect for Latto despite the heated comments.
“I was ranting and hot at the moment, but I fck with Latto HEAVY!” Cardi wrote at the time. “I respect everything about her, including her team, that’s so sweet. AND NOPE! I’m not too prideful to apologize to somebody I really respect, so this is my public apology, and now ima privately buy her a bag.”
That promise to buy Latto a luxury bag is one reason fans believe the new lyrics are aimed directly at Cardi. On “Gimme Dat,” Latto appears to dismiss the idea, rapping that her man had already purchased one for her.
The track contains another line that has listeners raising their eyebrows. Later in the song, Latto says, “Wish a bitch would get in that booth/ I’m callin’ up PlaqueBoyMax.”
The reference has sparked additional speculation because PlaqueBoyMax has previously been linked to Cardi B. According to reports, Cardi even gave him a shout-out during this year’s Super Bowl LX flag football event, making the lyric another detail fans have been dissecting online.
What makes the situation particularly interesting is that the two rappers appeared to be on good terms not long ago. In September 2025, Latto reunited with Cardi for the remix of “Errtime.” The collaboration arrived less than a week before the leaked phone call surfaced, leading many fans to believe there was no bad blood between them at the time.
Now, with Big Mama officially out and “Gimme Dat” generating conversation across social media, fans are revisiting the timeline and debating whether Latto is finally responding to Cardi B in a chapter that has lingered in the background for months.
