The upcoming Olandria x Brandon Blackwood designer handbag collaboration is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated fashion drops of the season. Bringing together reality TV personality Olandria Carthen and celebrated designer Brandon Blackwood in a collection inspired by her signature “Bama Barbie” style.
The buzz started building on April 14, when Olandria Carthen shared a teaser video on social media, offering fans a first look at what was coming. The clip hinted at a bold, playful aesthetic that would later be confirmed as the foundation of the collaboration. Now, with a May 27 release date locked in, the anticipation has only grown as fans wait to get their hands on the collection.
For Olandria, the partnership carries more weight than just fashion. Speaking to ELLE, she reflected on how Blackwood’s designs have been part of her journey from the early days of Love Island. “Brandon’s bags have been part of my entire journey, starting with Love Island,” she said. “For one, I love supporting Black designers as is. And I’m all about supporting those who supported me when no one wanted to.”
That mutual respect is what helped shape the collaboration into something more personal. Blackwood, who founded his namesake brand in 2015 after originally pursuing neuroscience, has built a reputation for accessible luxury and standout design. His work has been carried by major names, including Beyoncé and Doechii, solidifying his place in contemporary fashion.
The collection itself reflects both of their creative identities. It features four distinct styles, all designed with Olandria’s “Bama Barbie” aesthetic in mind and offered in pink, hot pink, and jet black. The lineup includes the O-Zip Mini Trunk, O-Top Handle Bag, O-Vanity Case, and the O-Lipstick Case Bag Charm. Each piece carries the “O” for Olandria, marking her direct imprint on the designs.
Blackwood explained that the goal was to blend playful styling with everyday practicality. “Olandria wanted small, really cute day-to-day bags that you can also bring into the nighttime,” he said, noting that the designs take inspiration from signature pieces like the Kendrick trunk and vanity case but introduce new features such as an attached compact mirror and wraparound zippers, a first for the brand.
