Simone Biles has fans concerned after revealing that she recently experienced what she described as one of the most frightening moments of her life.

The Olympic gymnastics legend shared a candid health update on social media, telling followers that she is currently recovering after a serious medical scare that left her shaken.

The 29-year-old athlete opened up in a series of Instagram Story posts, revealing that she had been spending the week resting in bed following the incident. While Biles chose not to disclose exactly what happened, she made it clear that the experience was far more serious than most people realized.

“Almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week,” she wrote. “This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life.”

Alongside her message, Biles shared photos of hospital wristbands, bouquets of flowers from loved ones, and a screenshot showing a heart-rate monitor. She also posted a photo of her dogs relaxing on a bed, writing, “I’ll be here,” as she focused on recovery.

Biles explained that she typically prefers to keep personal matters private. “I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age,” she wrote. Still, she wanted to acknowledge the support she received from family and friends during the difficult week.

The gymnast also noted that the situation felt even more overwhelming because her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, was away in Indianapolis, attending preseason practices with the Indianapolis Colts, when the health emergency occurred.

“Especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices,” she shared, before thanking her close circle for checking on her, visiting her, and sending flowers.

As speculation circulated online, Biles later responded to a fan on X, clarifying that the incident involved a “health” issue. However, she has not yet provided additional details about the medical emergency itself, telling followers that she would “explain sooner or later.”

The update comes as Biles continues to enjoy one of the most celebrated careers in sports history. The gymnastics superstar returned to Olympic competition at the Paris 2024 Games, where she captured three gold medals in the team, all-around, and vault events, along with a silver medal in floor exercise.

Her successful return followed a highly publicized mental health break during the Tokyo Olympics, where she withdrew from several events after experiencing the “twisties,” a condition that can affect a gymnast’s spatial awareness during competition.

Today, Biles stands as the most decorated gymnast in history, with a combined total of 41 Olympic and World Championship medals.
