Angel Reese has made WNBA history by becoming the first player to record 20 or more rebounds in three consecutive games.
The milestone came on Sunday as she led the Chicago Sky with 11 points and 22 rebounds in a narrow 77-75 defeat to the Las Vegas Aces.
Reese’s remarkable performance builds on a series of impressive games. On August 18, she posted 19 points and 20 rebounds in a loss to the Phoenix Mercury.
In her next outing, an 82-80 loss to the Connecticut Sun, she again registered 20 rebounds, along with 13 points. This consistency has solidified her status as one of the league’s top rebounders.
In addition to her rebounding record, Reese has matched a significant milestone for rookies. She has tied Atlanta Dream center Tina Charles for the most double-doubles by a rookie in WNBA history, with 22.
Charles set the record during her rookie season with the Connecticut Sun in 2010. With several games remaining, Reese is poised to surpass this record.
Despite Reese’s individual success, the Sky are struggling, having lost their last three games and four of their last five. They currently sit at No. 8 in the WNBA standings with an 11-18 record.
The team will need to turn things around quickly to improve their playoff prospects.
