Yesterday (October 1st), Las Vegas was thrown into a panic after a gunman opened fire at a music festival. As of this morning, the number of victims standing at 58 with over 515 injured. Shots were fired back to back and the barrage of bullets lasted at least 10-minutes. The gunman has been identified by authorities as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock.

According to the NY Times, Paddock “fired from a Las Vegas hotel onto the outdoor Route 91 Harvest country music festival, which was taking place across the road from the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the famous Las Vegas Strip.”

Paddock was positioned on the 32nd floor of the hotel this Sunday, and fired shots at the 22,000 concertgoers. At least 10 weapons were found inside Paddock’s room.

Per NBC, “As the sun rose over Las Vegas, two broken windows could be seen from the 32nd floor of the hotel, curtains billowing out of them. Law enforcement officials believe Paddock had connecting rooms or a suite and ran between both windows, firing out of both, either to get a different vantage point or to avoid return-fire.”

The shooting goes down as the deadliest mass shooting in American history, with the number of deaths continuing to rise.
