Yung Miami is opening up once again about what she believes makes co-parenting actually work, and her message is as blunt as it is straightforward: to keep sex out of it.

The rapper, who has been open over the years about navigating life as a mother and public figure, says the key to maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship is drawing a firm line once a romantic relationship ends. According to her, the moment intimacy stays in the picture, everything else becomes harder to manage.

Yung Miami explained that physical involvement can blur boundaries and create unnecessary tension between parents who are supposed to be focused on raising a child together. In her view, what should be a clear, child-centered dynamic can quickly turn emotional and complicated.

“I think that to be honest, to have a healthy co-parenting relationship, you cannot have sex,” she said. She went on to explain that when intimacy is involved, even small interactions can take on a different meaning. “Because you know, like it is when sex is involved, it’s hard to just keep it about the child. Instances like, ‘Why you ain’t answering the phone. We just had sex last night, why ain’t you answering the phone?’ It turns out like all of that.”

She summed up her approach in her usual unfiltered style, saying the goal is to keep everything strictly focused on the children. “So I think to finally get to the space where it’s like strictly about the kids, no … That’s healthy co-parenting. It’s only about the kids. It’s only showing up for the kids… get the coochie out of the way.”

Yung Miami also noted that her co-parent, producer Southside, has expressed similar views on maintaining boundaries in their parenting relationship.

Her perspective comes from her own experience as a mother of two. She welcomed her son, Jai, in 2013 with her ex-boyfriend Jai Wiggins, and later gave birth to her daughter, Summer, in 2019 with Southside.

Over the years, Yung Miami has continued to balance motherhood with her music career, stepping into a solo lane after her run with City Girls. While she keeps much of her family life private, she has consistently emphasized that her children remain her top priority.
