Spoken word artist, writer, and performer Cynthia Amoah recently performed at Womarch. For those who may not know what Womarch is, itβs an annual networking event that aims to build a unified front for future generations, through art, encouragement, and support.
In support of Womenβs History Month, Womarch highlights the amazing contributions women have made to society. Amoah who has competed in national poetry recitation competitions as well as participating in motivational talks since 2006 was one of the special guests of the night.
The Binghamton University grad recited an original poem titled Black Before Beautiful. The poem details the experiences that most black women may deal with throughout their lives. Along with the experiences, black women go through; she lists important black women in her poems like Lupita Nyongβo, Michelle Obama, Harriet Tubman, and many more whoβve changed the world and have made historic contributions to society.
