Tarana Burke, creator of the #metoo movement was featured among other female activists as the Time Person of the Year for 2017.
In this short film which is in collaboration with denim giants, Levi –
we find out more about Tarana’s life as a survivor, activist and mother and how she found the confidence to start a movement telling other survivors they are not alone.
Tarana continues to raise awareness, leading the conversation to stop sexual violence through policy change and community support. Directed by Brittany “B.Monét” Fennell of California-based media company Girlgaze in honor of Women’s History Month and as part of their #IShapeMyWorld short film series.
Other short films include ‘#6,’ which spotlights Sam Gordon, the 15-year-old football star; ‘Drum As You Are,’ a film about Mona Tavakoli, co-founder of Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls based in Los Angeles and ‘Jasilyn: Activist of the Land,’ featuring Jasilyn Charger, co-founder of the International Indigenous Youth Council.
