Ashlee Jenae’s death in Zanzibar is under active investigation as police confirm the influencer was involved in a dispute with her fiancé shortly before she was found unconscious at a luxury resort.
Ashlee Jenae, whose real name was Ashly Robinson, traveled to Tanzania earlier this month, where she was staying at the Zuri Zanzibar. Authorities say the events leading up to her death are still being reviewed, with new details shedding light on her final hours.
According to information reported by TMZ and confirmed by local officials, Ashlee and her fiancé, Joe McCann, were involved in a heated argument at the resort before the incident. North Unguja Regional Police Commander Benedict Mapujira stated that hotel staff intervened during the dispute and separated the couple into different rooms.
The situation reportedly escalated to the point where staff alerted local authorities and filed a report at Nungwi Police Station. Following the intervention, Ashlee was later found unconscious inside her villa.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead the following day, according to police. While early reports suggested suicide as a possible cause, officials have not issued a confirmed determination and continue to treat the case as an active investigation.
Ashlee’s family has raised concerns about the initial narrative. Her father noted that although suicide was mentioned early on, authorities have not formally ruled on the cause of death.
