Cardi B says scammers attempted to run up $60,000 on her credit card, including $40,000 at Saks and $20,000 at the Apple Store, and she is making it clear she intends to hold those responsible accountable.
The Grammy-winning rapper revealed the situation during a recent Instagram Live, explaining that the issue began about two weeks ago after her American Express card went missing. Not long after, she received an alert for a $40,000 purchase at Saks, which immediately caught her attention.
Cardi B noted that her credit card is linked directly to her phone, allowing her to receive instant notifications every time it is used. She explained that whether she is making a small purchase or shopping online, her phone alerts her in real time, making it difficult for unauthorized transactions to go unnoticed.
At first, she considered the possibility that someone on her team may have used the card, since assistants occasionally make purchases on her behalf. However, her concerns escalated when another alert came through about 35 minutes later, this time for a $20,000 charge at an Apple Store. That second transaction confirmed for her that something was wrong.
Before she could take further action, her accountant reached out to flag the suspicious activity. The card was immediately shut down, and her team began contacting the stores connected to the attempted purchases.
According to Cardi B, the individuals involved appeared unaware of how closely the transactions were being tracked. She said surveillance cameras captured clear images of the suspects at multiple locations, including retail stores and a nearby bank where they allegedly attempted to withdraw money. She added that they even tried to use the card at a Chase bank, despite it not being enabled for ATM withdrawals.
With what she described as clear evidence in hand, Cardi B issued a direct warning to those involved, stating that consequences would follow. She emphasized that she takes her finances seriously and does not tolerate attempts to misuse her money.
