Former co-stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Yara Shahidi have reunited for an exciting new Old Navy campaign to inspire a summer filled with family fun.
The actresses, who previously starred in the ABC sitcom “Black-ish,” are back together two years after the show’s conclusion.
Ross, 51, said she is excited about working with Shahidi, 24, again.
“When you’ve worked with someone for a long time, there’s an ease to how you work and a comfort. I should say thank you, Old Navy, for bringing this little duo back together,” Ross told People.
The “Summering” campaign showcases the duo dancing poolside, flaunting vibrant and trendy summer looks from Old Navy’s new collection. Ross and Shahidi grace the California scene hand-in-hand, sporting different ensembles that reflect their unique styles.
Ross opens in a blue monochromatic linen set, while Shahidi shines in a red tank, white skirt, and striped sweater tied around her neck. Later, Ross stuns in a bodycon dress as she relaxes by the pool.
Both actresses are known for their fearless fashion sense, a trait they brought to their characters on “Black-ish” from 2014 to 2022.
Shahidi once shared with Vogue in 2017 how her character Zoey Johnson’s dynamic style choices influenced her own.
“Zoey Johnson has taught me how to be adventurous,” Shahidi said. “Even from the first season to the third season there’s such a drastic change in what she wears, and it’s funny, because her closet is what I wish my closet looked like.”
Shahidi shared with People that the best part of the Old Navy campaign was “noticing how similar our instincts are in certain moments… or when other people notice our twinning mannerisms!”
The ad culminates with the two stars facing each other in matching red and blue sets, celebrating how fabulous they look in Old Navy’s latest pieces.
Old Navy’s new summer collection is now available in stores and online.
