Singer Ciara may be heavily pregnant, but that did not stop her from showing off a few of her trademark dance moves in her new video, “Rooted.”
The single is a nod to Black excellence and features Ester Dean. In the video, a woman can be seen wearing a Breonna Taylor shirt.
Ciara wraps up the powerful visual with an equally compelling message:
“To all my young Rosa’s and Young Luther’s keep marching. Don’t stop fighting for what you believe in. To all my Black queens and kings, continue to plant and spread seeds of love, hope and pride in your tribe. Everything you need to survive and thrive is rooted in you. Stay rooted.”
Ciara recently gave birth to her third child, Winn Harrison, a fortnight ago, but the music video was filmed just days before Winn’s arrival. The video also features CiCi’s two children — Future, 6, and Sienna, 3.
During a recent chat with ET Online, she opened up about how she and husband Russell Wilson came up with her newborn son’s name.
“Russell would always be like, ‘Here’s Win shortstop,’ he like, plays a whole thing out. And then obviously, Harrison, it was his dad’s first name, which is really sweet and precious,” she explained. “There was a lot of love and thought put into it. Russ, we would talk about names, and Russ kind of always had this name Win in the rotation, years ago, before we knew we were having a girl. He had all the good names and Win won. So Win is the name and he’s so cute, he’s so precious.”
