Democrat Angela Alsobrooks holds a commanding 14-point lead over Republican former Governor Larry Hogan in the Maryland Senate race,
This is according to a new poll from Emerson College Polling, DC News Now, and The Hill.
The poll shows Alsobrooks, the Prince George’s County Executive, with 54% support among likely voters, compared to Hogan’s 40%. The remaining 6% were undecided.
This marks a 5-point gain for Alsobrooks since September, while Hogan’s support has dropped by 2 points.
Alsobrooks’ lead is bolstered by her strong support among female voters, holding a 27-point advantage in that demographic, up from an 18-point lead last month.
Hogan, however, holds just a 1-point lead among male voters in the state.
Despite Hogan’s popularity as a former Republican governor in the predominantly blue state, the race has maintained its “likely Democratic” rating, according to The Cook Political Report.
Alsobrooks is heavily favored to replace outgoing Democrat Sen. Ben Cardin, with Decision Desk HQ forecasting her near-certain victory.
In the same poll, Vice President Kamala Harris holds an even larger lead in Maryland’s presidential race, with 63% support compared to 33% for former President Donald Trump.
The survey, conducted from October 19-21, polled 865 likely voters and has a credibility interval of ±3.2 percentage points.
