Always Discreet And Taraji P. Henson Shed Light On Perimenopause Challenges To Empower Women

by Gee NY

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Proctor & Gamble’s bladder leak protection brand, Always Discreet, has joined forces with acclaimed actress Taraji P. Henson to raise awareness about perimenopause, a life stage often overshadowed by limited knowledge and understanding.

As women transition into perimenopause, their bodies undergo significant changes that are commonly left unspoken but are entirely normal.

Always Discreet aims to empower women navigating this transitional period by bringing attention to shared experiences, including the prevalent issue of bladder leaks.

According to Balaka Niyazee, senior vice president of P&G Feminine Care North America:

“Bladder leaks are a common experience that 1 in 2 women over the age of 18 will experience in their lifetime.”

Despite the widespread impact of perimenopause, the North American Menopause Society reported that 83% of women are unaware of the perimenopausal stage that precedes menopause.

Niyazee emphasized the limited knowledge exchange surrounding perimenopause, leaving women unprepared for typical physical changes, especially concerning bladder leaks.

To ignite awareness and foster dialogue, Always Discreet has introduced the “I Wish I Knew” video series, featuring Taraji P. Henson alongside other women openly sharing their perimenopausal journeys.

The series highlights the commonalities in their experiences, shedding light on unexpected symptoms such as bladder leaks. Henson herself shared:

“I didn’t know what was happening to me. We don’t talk enough about how women’s bodies continue to change, and it leaves us confused, frustrated, and feeling alone.”

A survey conducted by Always Discreet revealed that 70% of women feel less isolated knowing that others face similar challenges with bladder leakage.

However, the impact of these leaks is significant, with 73% admitting to avoiding activities due to concerns about leaks.

Over 80% of women experiencing bladder leaks found it detrimental to their overall confidence, while 77% cited disadvantages in their ability to exercise or engage in physical activities.

“I’m passionate about women living confidently and feeling empowered,” stated Taraji P. Henson.

Always Discreet endeavors to use this video series as a powerful tool to empower women, fostering understanding, and breaking the silence surrounding perimenopausal challenges.

As discussions around these issues gain momentum, the collaboration seeks to offer support, promote confidence, and create a sense of unity among women navigating this transformative stage of life.
