Normani Reveals Her Mother’s Breast Cancer Has Returned: ‘We Got This Mommy’

by Shine My Crown Staff

Normani has revealed that her mother, Andrea Hamilton’s cancer had returned.

Hamilton, a breast cancer survivor, shared on social media that the disease has returned — but she remained defiant.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me 🙏🏾 I did it once and I’ll do it again! #CancerWho,” she wrote alongside a photo of a rosary.

Normani then shared her mother’s post via her Instagram Story, writing, “we got this mommy,” adding that her mother is the “the strongest woman that I know” in her post’s comments.

Normani previously opened up about her family’s struggle through her mother’s diagnosis with breast cancer.

“My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was around 5 years old, and it was the scariest point in all of our lives,” Normani told Paper magazine in 2018.

“I didn’t know much about breast cancer, and though I was always educated by my doctors to do my self-breast exams and everything, I took it for granted,” Hamilton added in the joint interview. “You can kind of turn a blind eye until it actually happens to you.”

Normani became an ambassador for the American Cancer Society in 2017.

“It’s hard for anyone to be able to comprehend that one of their loved ones is that ill and could possibly not be with them anymore, but being a five-year-old trying to understand that was even more difficult,” Normani explained. “It hurt me to know that it hurt her.”

Our hearts and prayers go out to Normani, Andrea and their family.
