Netflix is not letting a little thing like Disney walking away slow them down. After inking deals with Ava DuVernay and 2 Dope Queen, they’ve also locked in actress Sanaa Lathan for their film adaptation of Trisha R. Thomas‘ book, Nappily Ever After.
Lathan will play the lead role of Violet Jones, a woman around whose life seems almost perfect. She has a great career, a hunky doctor as a boyfriend, and all of the life’s trimmings. That is until a trip to salon goes horribly wrong and Violet’s life comes crashing down around her and she is left to pick up the pieces.
Lathan will also be a producer on the film alongside Tracey Bing (Southside With You), Marc Platt and Jared Leboff with BenedictCarver, Vincent Cirrincione and Mark Moran as the Executive Producers.
Shooting will commence this month in Atlanta.
