In 2014, “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” Mimi Faust almost broke the internet when her intimate tape with her then-boyfriend, Nikko Smith, leaked online.
Now, eight years on, Mimi says she is nervous about discussing the tape with her daughter, Eva, whom she shares with producer Stevie J.
“I kinda cringe a little bit that I still gotta tell my daughter at some point so big, big, big I’m not gonna say regret. I’m gonna say mistake. I’ll use that word,” she said on “Inside the A.”
Mimi and her shower rod antics with Nikko led to shower rods taking center stage of a lot of folks’ bedroom (or outer bedroom) activities.
At the time, Mimi denied any knowledge of the tape’s creation or leaking. But viewers could help but notice that some of the scenes appeared to be staged.
Eventually, the couple cut a check with Vivid Entertainment’s hands, who released the video under the title, “Mimi and Nikko: Scandal in Atlanta.” In 2015, Mimi confessed to US Weekly that the tape had been staged from the very beginning.
Mimi had fallen under Nikko’s spell.
“The way he went about it was, ‘Our lovemaking is like art. We should document this,’ and all of that Brooklyn suave bull—-. And I was like, ‘yeah, yeah.'” she explained.
Mimi said there were warning signs at the beginning of dating him but that she chose to ignore them.
“Every time I would go to Nikko’s place, there would be a camera and a tripod in front of the bed at all times,” she told the publication. “You know how you get that gut feeling? I didn’t listen to my gut instinct. I kind of just shoved it to the side.”
She adds, “I get a check every quarter for the rest of my life” — but still wished she could take it back.
