Teriana Mahomes, a 12-year-old African American girl from Long Beach, California, who her mother’s boyfriend reportedly abducted, has been found safe.
An Ebony Alert and Amber Alert were issued after she was last seen around 4 p.m. on July 3 in the 6600 block of Atlantic Avenue.
Authorities identified her mother’s boyfriend, 42-year-old Clark Thomas Wheeler, as the suspect in her abduction.
Her mother, Theresa Mahomes, expressed deep concern and frustration during the search, stating Wheeler was supposed to bring Teriana home but did not return.
“We went to get something to eat and things like that,” Theresa told Fox LA. “Then, we came back. He was nowhere to be found. I’m very worried. I’m very, very worried, as a mom has to be.”
Theresa questioned Wheeler’s actions, stating:
“Bye. Like, Bye. Move on. I’m moving on. Whatever happened, happened. They should have never did this. You don’t do that to no kid.”
Following extensive efforts by the LAPD, an Ebony Alert and Amber Alert were issued to help locate Teriana.
She was found safe on Sunday, although authorities have not disclosed further details regarding her discovery.
