Former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes has sadly revealed that her husband, Gregg Leakes’ colon cancer, has returned.
On season 11 of the show, viewers watched as Gregg battled cancer and won with NeNe’s support.
“He’s in the hospital. He’s been in the hospital, tomorrow it’ll be a week. I’m sure he’ll be home in about a week or so. He had to have a surgery, [because] his cancer did return,” she told The Jasmine Brand.
“He’s had this surgery before and he was in the hospital for about 15 days,” NeNe shared, adding that the situation has been “difficult” and that he is “super small.”
“If you’ve ever been around somebody who’s had cancer before, he’s different,” she explained. “He’s different.”
“I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg, that would be beautiful. Pray for his strength. And pray for me too.”
NeNe was heavily criticized during the 11th season. To viewers, it seemed that the star was lacking in compassion. Speaking to People, she explained what caring for Gregg meant for her.
“It’s very, very hard to be a caretaker,” she said at the time. “People call and they say, ‘How’s Gregg doing?’ and I want to throw the phone and say, ‘How the f*ck am I doing? I’m going crazy over here, Gregg is wearing me out!’ I am not good at this sh*t! I would rather hire somebody. Gregg doesn’t wants me to hire somebody, but I’m just not good. I’m not good at fluffing the pillow; I’m good at buying the pillow.”
Gregg later apologized to NeNe on Instagram, “We always hurt the ones we love… because they allow us to hurt them rather than snap back,” he wrote.
“I’m tired of hurting my wife who is only trying to take good care of me and wants only the best for me too. She deserves much more for her hard efforts and tireless hours spent on me,” he said. “I pray to God to get it together… she’s done NO wrong… this is ALL on me.”
