Singer Kelly Price is a known former collaborator of R. Kelly. She has remained tight-lipped about the disgraced crooner’s demise throughout his arrests and trials.
In a recent interview with DJ Vlad, Price finally addressed her working relationship with the Chicago artist and whether she was privy to any of his shady dealings.
“Our relationship remained professional. He never brought anything around me,” Prince told Vlad. “People don’t believe it but he never, ever brought anything around me. He never acted weird. He never tried to make a pass.”
She did admit that she had heard rumors about Kelly’s illegal activities but that she was never “exposed” to it.
“The rumors were that he liked underage girls, he never had underage girls around me,” said Price. She said that if he had known that he was abusing young girls, she would have told somebody.
In September, Kelly was convicted of racketeering and sex crimes in New York. He has not been sentenced but is looking at life in prison. Kelly is also to face trial in Chicago, where he is charged with creating porn featuring minors, intimidating witnesses and trying to bribe witnesses.
“I think where there’s smoke, there’s fire,” Price continued. “In this business, and nobody really wants to talk about it, in this business, that’s not odd, that’s actually the culture. It’s the culture. I’ve seen mothers bring their daughters backstage. And that’s the thing nobody wants to talk about.”
