CBS News anchor Gayle King was blasted online following her highly controversial interview with WBNA legend, Lisa Leslie.
What was supposed to be a tribute to Kobe Bryant, turned into a media frenzy after King was accused of âpressingâ Leslie over Bryantâs 2003 rape allegation.
King headed to Oprah Winfreyâs 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus Tour, where she said that the incident was âpainful,â but that she was had moved on from it all.
âI have moved on. Is there a scab? Yeah. But I have moved on,â King told Winfrey.
âI put on my game face and my big girl pants because I never lost sight of who I was, what I believe I am, and my intention. Iâve never lost sight of that. But it certainly was a learning curve, and it was very painful,â King continued.
Winfrey had some kind words for her best pal of 40 years.
âIn every circumstance, I think this is something for us to remember,â Winfrey said. âItâs not the people who are being mean, itâs not the badness, itâs not the vitriol thatâs being put into the world, but itâs the good people who remain silent that becomes so hurtful.â
âI think we can disagree politically, we can disagree socially, if you want to, but I just think humanity should prevail always,â King added. âI think we still have to figure out a way to navigate that with each other. That we can disagree, and you can be mad at me even, but you canât speak to me the way I was spoken to and threatened.â
