Michigan Grandmother Devastated After Grandchild Is Mauled To Death By Neighbor’s Pit Bull

A 4-year-old boy named Lovell Anderson from Michigan tragically lost his life after being attacked by a neighbor’s dog while playing in his grandmother’s backyard.

The incident occurred on October 18, when the dog, described as a pit bull, managed to get past a fence and dragged the child under it before attacking him.

Commander Arnold Williams of the Detroit Police Department expressed condolences to the family and urged residents to ensure their pets are securely contained.

Two dogs, including the one responsible for the attack, were seized by animal control.

The family has sought legal representation from attorney Peter O’Toole to seek justice for the heartbreaking incident. The attack was so horrifying that neighbors who heard it immediately contacted authorities.

Lovell Anderson’s death has been devastating for his family, particularly his mother, who was not present during the attack. The family emphasized the importance of properly training and securing pit bulls in residential neighborhoods to prevent such tragedies.

The boy’s aunt, who has not been named, told Fox 2 that her sister is distraught.

“This is a very sad situation,” the aunt said. “As we know in Detroit, pit bulls [are] a big problem when you don’t have them trained properly, or tied up, or put in a gate – secured properly,” she said.

She continued, “We live in a rural neighborhood. There’s kids roaming around, getting out of school right now. …That could have happened to any one of them.”

As of now, no arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing. The family created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the child’s funeral and related expenses, describing him as a smart, handsome, and beloved son, nephew, grandson, and cousin.

The fundraiser had raised $9,560 out of a $12,000 goal at the time of reporting.
