Amara La Negra visits Essence Now host Makho Ndlovu speak about her storyline on Love & Hip Hop Miami. She speaks on the importance education within the Latin community as well as growing up with ignorance of colorism within the Spanish speaking community.
La Negra talks about the role her parents played in her life growing up and her love for her mother. She also discussed her controversial interview with The Breakfast Club, Mathew Knowles’ remarks on colorism.
“I wouldn’t say it’s just because of your skin color because these artists are very talented. Beyonce is… mama. Beyonce is everything! […] I would never say you made is based off your color, no. It does help. It does give you a little push. It’s unfortunate for the rest of us, but it does help. And it has happened. And it’s happened for many years. It’s just that the people wanna cover the sun with one finger and say it doesn’t exist. It’s over. “Racism? What are you talking about? Oh, nobody’s racist anymore” – Ah. wake up!”
