After months and months of speculation about the possibility of having a remake to the 1994 hit Disney film The Lion King, it was confirmed last night (Nov. 1st) that it will hit theaters in 2019!

The film is set to have a star-studded cast which includes Donald Glover as Simba. James Earl Jones is returning as the voice of Mufasa, and none other than Queen herself, Beyonce, will play Nala who’s the love interest of the film’s protagonist Simba. Queen Bey posted a photo of the entire cast on her Facebook with the caption “#TheLionKing2019”
Jon Favreau who is the director of the new film stated: “It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life.” According to Disney, the film will have a “new take” on the classic story and it will feature “pioneering filmmaking techniques.” The Lion King is set to release in theaters July 19, 2019.
