Jorja Smith is most of us during the lockdown period — getting all glammed up with nowhere to go in her new visuals for single, “Addicted.”
The singer co-directed with Savana Leaf and was shot using a webcam given the ever-changing pandemic guidelines and restrictions.
On the track, Jorja tells the familiar tale of unrequited love.
“The hardest thing/You are not addicted to me/I’m the only thing you should need/You should be addicted to me/The hardest thing/I’m too selfless to leave/You’re the only thing that I need/You should be addicted to me,” she sings.
In the video, Jorja can be seen chatting with a friend on Facetime in her regular close. We next see the stunning British songstress glammed up on her bathroom floor.
“The video is multiple versions of me singing the song; having fun dressing up, not trying to be too serious and just giving myself more freedom,” she said in a press statement. She adds that “Addicted” is about “focusing on wanting the full attention of someone who’s not giving enough (or any) when they should be”.
Although this is her first video release in 2021, in January, she announced that she would be hosting a new BBC Radio 3 show titled “Tearjerker” — a 12-part series.
“It’s important to try and find time to just let go and let music take you to a different place. I hope the music in my new series — from strings and piano to songs and soundtracks — will help you whatever you’re feeling, bring out different emotions and make you feel a little better. Presenting it made me feel a lot more relaxed too,” she said ahead of the launch.
