When Rubi Rose stepped into a retirement home to film a podcast episode with Bobbi Althoff, she probably didn’t expect to leave with a Rolex.
The viral moment, which has already racked up thousands of reposts and reaction videos, unfolded mid-interview. Bobbi, known for her awkwardly dry (and usually hilarious) interview style, had switched things up and invited Rubi to chat it up in a much quieter, senior-filled setting.
But the conversation took a sudden turn when a charming, silver-haired elderly man named Giovani strolled up like he had just stepped out of an old Hollywood film.
“Hi, sorry to interrupt,” he said gently, touching Rubi’s shoulder like a seasoned gentleman. After a short, polite exchange, he casually removed his Rolex. Yes, his actual Rolex. And handed it to Rubi as a “little trinket.”
“Awwww, thank you,” Rubi smiled, visibly stunned.
And that wasn’t even the wildest part. After kissing her hand like a man who’s definitely read a romance novel or two, Giovani dipped out of frame, leaving both Rubi and Bobbi completely speechless. Bobbi sat frozen, mouth wide open like she’d just witnessed a real-life plot twist.
Later, Rubi reflected on the moment, saying, “I’ve been given some very nice gifts, so the Rolex was cool. Yeah. Damn. They do check on me. I do get checked on.”
As for the backstory behind the surprise gift? Giovani kept it classy. In a follow-up clip, he explained: “I gave Rubi my watch because she’s a beautiful, exceptional young lady. That’s it. There’s nothing transactional about it.”
According to his nurse, this isn’t even a one-time flex. “This dude does this all the time,” she revealed, laughing.

She confessed she lied because he had hurt her feelings after saying she was “getting too expensive” for him, and that’s why he ended things.
“I shouldn’t have said that, but it was, like, I had to stand on it,” Rubi Rose admitted. “But it’s in the past now, and we’re friends, and we’re cool still.”
