Portland artist, The Last Artful, Dodgr, has dropped a brand new track, “Better Safe Than Social,” a much-needed mantra as we all struggle to cope with the nationwide stay-at-home orders.
“I feel safe/ On my own/ In this place/ On my own/ In this way/ On my own/ This way,” the track begins. Her lyrics are every true introvert’s reality, but due to the coronavirus, everyone is being asked to follow suit and stay indoors. But despite the context of the tune, it remains buoyant and upbeat and will undoubtedly have you bopping your heads.
In a post on Instagram, she revealed that the track was actually penned in March 2018, but that now seemed like a good time to release it.
And she’s not wrong.
If you’re not hip to Dodgr’s music, it’s very likely that you’ve heard her music and just might not be aware of it.
Last summer, the Last Artful, Dodgr’s collaboration with Mark Ronson and Alicia Keys, received heavy praise. The LA native has also collaborated with Anderson .Paak on his two critically acclaimed albums Oxnard and Ventura. She also landed a critical song placement with the hit song “Hot” in HBO’s Euphoria.
