Watch Short Film – “Greenwood” | @JAIRUSBURKS#BlackFilmMakers

by Yah Yah

Greenwood, a short film produced by Therese Cooper of Jairus Burks Productions is a touching illustration of hope as well as a nod to Black Wall Street.

The short features spoken word poet Dacember Traylor who’s poetry paints a vivid picture of “one of the most prominent concentrations of African American businesses in the United States and how it was forcefully erased in one of the most devastating massacres in the history of U.S. race relations.”

The message is further driven home by ballet dancer Camille Hagen visual representation of the current state of Black America, and how the loss of Black all Street not only simultaneously destroyed both a reality and a dream… the remnants of it have manifested in a devastating way. It’s time to rebuild!
