Reboots are definitely making a comeback this year! Misha Green has been tappedto write and produce a reboot of a popular 1970s film. That is, of course, the 1973 blaxploitation, female empowerment film Cleopatra Jones. Green, who is the co-creator, executive producer, and writer of the WGN series Underground along executive producing Lovecraft with Jordan Peele and JJ Abrams, has been enlisted by Warner Brosto recreate this spectacular film into a series!
The original film starred Tamara Dobson as Cleopatra Jones, an undercover agent and master martial artist, posing as a supermodel. According to Deadline, Green will write and produce the film “that will present the heroine very much as the female answer to James Bond.”
The news of this reprisal comes in as the news of a Shaft Reboot starring Samuel Jackson also made headlines.It looks like our parents have new shows to look forward to watching in the upcoming new year!
