In a few weeks, we’ll officially say goodbye to summer and step right into autumn. It’s that time of the year where one minute you have gorgeous summer sunshine, and the next you’re freezing cold wishing you brought a jacket! I’ll be giving you 5 tips to help you take your summer wardrobe to autumn chic in no time!
Knitwear
I hear a lot of people say, “I love summer, but I can’t wait to wear my cozy jumpers and cardigans again”, and honestly, I get where they are coming from. Knitwear is cute, warm and easy to style. Add a chunky jumper over your favorite skirt for an easy autumn look. Or pair an oversized cardigan with the summer dress that you couldn’t stop wearing. As we know, transitioning seasons can be very temperamental, so the best thing about knits is that you can take them off during the day if you get too hot, and keep them in your bag if the weather changes!
Boots are an essential part of any woman’s wardrobe any time of the year. The reason? They are so versatile! Ankle and knee-high boots are great for skirts as they give your feet protection from the weather, if you live somewhere it rains a lot. But for those of you that aren’t, peep-toe boots are a great alternative that can be worn with skinny jeans or leggings, and you’re still able to show off your bangin’ pedicure (see tip 5 for awesome autumn shades). Remember, it’s important to transition and not just go straight from sandals to boots – your feet have gotten so used to flat surfaces and being out in the open that the dramatic changes may cause some discomfort.
Colors
When thinking about autumn colors, think about the hues of the leaves as they change and autumn fruits. Some examples of great colors to introduce into your wardrobe are mustard, rust, and oxblood. These are warm colors that will give you the perfect autumnal look.
Accessorising is a great way to transition because it allows you to subtly add items to your outfit and wardrobe to anticipate the change in weather. Hats and scarves are ideal because they can easily match your outfit and can be taken off or put on during the day. Tights/pantyhose can be worn with skirts and shorts which allow you to keep wearing your summer favorites. And don’t be afraid to experiment – color, sparkle, fishnet, there are many styles to choose from!
Nails
Autumn style doesn’t stop with your clothes – nail color is a great way to transition from summer to autumn. Going from those bright summer pastels to warmer autumn colors are easy.
