AOC Checks Ted Cruz Over Paris Climate Agreement Misinformation

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out U.S. Senator Ted Cruz after rebuking newly-sworn in President Joe Biden for signing an executive order for the U.S. to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement.

“By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans,” the Texas senator tweeted.

On his first day in office, Biden signed more than a dozen executive actions, many reversing several of the more policies implemented by the former president, Donald Trump.

Ocasio-Cortez made sure to put Cruz on blast for his asinine tweet:

“Nice tweet Sen. Cruz! Quick question: do you also believe the Geneva Convention was about the views of the citizens of Geneva?” she wrote. “Asking for everyone who believes U.S. Senators should be competent and not undermine our elections to incite insurrection against the United States.”

One hundred ninety-seven countries signed the Paris Agreement, but Trump the administration pulled out of the agreement despite being considered one of the leading emitters of greenhouse gasses.

Biden also signed executive orders implementing a 100-day mask mandate, reversing Trump’s controversial immigration ban and halting plans to build a wall along the Mexican border.

“In the coming days and weeks we will be announcing additional executive actions that confront these challenges and deliver on the President-elect’s promises to the American people, including revoking the ban on military service by transgender Americans, and reversing the Mexico City policy, “White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.
