Coco Jones, the Grammy-winning R&B star and actress known for her breakout role in Bel-Air, isn’t shy about what it really takes to chase big dreams — and her advice might surprise some.
Speaking on Keke Palmer’s podcast, Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Jones passionately declared that you have to be “a little delusional” to truly go after the life you want.
“You actually have to push past your reality,” Jones said. “Past the fear in other people’s minds, the projection of fear they might want to put onto you… past logic sometimes.”
Jones, who’s been candid about her journey in the entertainment industry — including industry rejections and being underestimated — explained that believing in yourself often means ignoring what seems “realistic.”
“Pushing past fear is like a little crazy,” she continued. “But you gotta talk to yourself and act the way you see yourself in the future. Maybe not everybody’s gonna get it, but you gotta get it. You’ve gotta get it on the inside.”
The ICU singer also encouraged creatives to share their work with the world unapologetically, reminding listeners that nothing happens if nothing happens.
“At this point, you can go viral off of doing this. You don’t know what’s gonna change your life,” Jones said. “Put something out as much as you can.”
Jones’ motivational remarks have resonated with fans across social media, with many praising her for her transparency and fearless spirit.
As one of the rising voices in R&B, she’s turning her “delusion” into reality — and inspiring others to do the same.
