According to Variety, Paramount Pictures is moving forward with the concept. The script will be led by “Black-ish” creator, Kenya Barris. He will be re-writing from an original screenplay by writers Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield. Jonathan Levine will be directing. Eddie Murphy is also involved with the development of the sequel, but we’re not sure if Prince Akeem will be returning on-screen yet.
The original production follows the filthy rich Prince Akeem of Zamunda and his journey to Queens, New York in pursuit of a wife. With his best friend/personal assistant Semmi tagging along, they run into a series of colorful characters which helped mold the film into a major hit.
What are you hoping to see in the sequel?
