Megan Thee Stallion’s victim statement was just released following the sentencing of rapper Tory Lanez who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting the Cognac Queen star in 2020.
Lanez has since spoken up following the statement, remaining steadfast in his claims that he was wrongfully convicted.
According to a BBC report, Lanez, born Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, refutes that he shot Megan and ordered her to “dance” as he riddled her feet with bullets.
In an Instagram post he wrote: “I refuse to apologize for something I did not do.”
The post comes on the heels of a statement Lanez’s lawyer Jose Baez made after Lanez was sentenced in Los Angeles.
At the time, Baez said that his client was “incredibly remorseful and ashamed and embarrassed.”
“As far as his actions are concerned, he has been nothing but apologetic,” Baez said.
At the time, Lanez accepted responsibility stating in court that he “did wrong that night,” although he did not indicate what exactly he did wrong. He also stated that “everything I did that night, I take full responsibility. I truly am just trying to be a better person.”
The 31-year-old Canadian rapper has since said that he only meant to take responsibility for “all the verbal and intimate moments I shared.”
“In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongly convicted of,” he added.
Meanwhile, Megan stated she has “not experienced a single day of peace” since the shooting took place.
In a victim statement, she said: “Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.”
Background
On July 12, 2020, prosecutors say both Megan The Stallion and Tory Lanez were headed to a club after visiting a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s house.
It was then that the Savage rapper, born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, said that the Say It rapper disrespected her. She demanded to be let out of the vehicle before he shot at her five times.
Detectives found a trail of blood at the scene of the shooting and a gun that was still “warm to the touch.”
Minutes after the shooting, Megan’s friend, Kelsey Nicole Harris, received a text from Megan stating: “Help… Tory shot Meg,” according to testimony. Shortly after, Lanez “profusely apologized for his actions” and said he was “just too drunk,” Megan’s attorney told jurors.
