“Why would anyone need to check on me?” Kimberly Michelle Pate asked back after tags flooded her timeline following Beyonce’s announcement that she’s going country.

Halo hitmaker shared her thoughts about Queen Bey’s new music and accusations that Beyonce is copying her country éclat.

Beyoncé announced her new country-themed ‘Renaissance Act II album in a Verizon Super Bowl Ad last Sunday.

Although the Grammy Awards’ Country Music Committee snubbed her 2016 song “Daddy Lessons”, Beyoncé is back with two new singles, causing controversies in the country music world.

She also gave fans previews of the first track, “Texas Hold ‘Em, and the second, “song, “16 Carriages.”

Fans quickly went online to assess what this move from Beyonce would mean for the country music genre, with many asking how K Michelle felt about the new competition

But K. Michelle refused to be pitted against Beyoncé. The 41-year-old star firmly denied having any concerns over Beyoncé entering the genre.

Michelle, who made her country music debut in 2022, disclosed that she never felt she could ever have a career singing country music as a Black woman

After years of hard work and dedication, K. Michelle has become one of the few known African-American names in country music.

So it was understated when she hopped on X to set a few records straight while establishing her dominance in the genre.

“Has anyone checked on @kmichelle Bey will bring pressure to Country music,” the X user wrote.

She replied, “Why would anyone need to check on me. I’m one of the greatest African American country singers of all time, with no album even out. Y’all have been mentioning me ALL night.”

The retired R&B singer, who now performs as her country alter ego, Puddin’, added that she’s all about being supportive.

“I’m just happy to be spoken about in my genre. I love Bey and will be supporting her like i always do.”

Nothing like a sister having your back. All the best to both women!
