One Musicfest has promptly found a replacement for Cardi B. Rising hip-hop star Mulatto has been announced as the replacement headliner at this weekend’s ONE MusicFest in Atlanta.
According to an Instagram post shared by festival organizers on Thursday, Clayton County’s own Grammy-nominated rapper Latto is set to perform at ONE Musicfest this Saturday.
Latto’s announcement to perform on Saturday follows Cardi B’s unexpected announcement that she would have to withdraw from performing due to a medical emergency.
Earlier in August, organizers announced Cardi B as the headliner for the highly anticipated 15th anniversary of One Music Fest, which is scheduled for this month.
The Grammy-winning rapper was scheduled to join an impressive lineup of artists as the festival celebrates a decade and a half of showcasing the best in R&B, hip-hop, and soul music.
On October 23, Cardi B took to social media to apologize to her fans for being unable to perform at the music festival.
“I am so sad to share this news, but I’ve been in the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple of days, and I won’t be able to perform at ONE MusicFest,” read the rapper’s statement on Instagram and X, formerly Twitter.
She continued, “It breaks my heart that I won’t get to see my fans this weekend, and I really wish I could be there. Thank you for understanding, and I’ll be back better and stronger soon. Don’t worry. Love yall.”
Music festival organizers reshared Cardi B’s statement on their social platforms, adding that they were “working hard to find a replacement at this late date. More to come soon.”
“Hey #OMFFam! Unfortunately, @iamcardib announced that she is no longer available to join us this year due to ongoing health issues. Let’s all keep her in our prayers for a full recovery!”
The festival announced Thursday night that Latto, aka Big Mama, will now headline night one of the two-day event.
The two-day festival will include hip-hop, R&B, and soul performances by well-known artists and a few surprises. Earth, Wind & Fire, Fantasia, Ari Lennox, Method Man & Redman, and now Latto are among the artists scheduled to perform on Saturday. On Sunday, Gunna, Jill Scott, Victoria Monét, and DJ Drama will perform alongside special guests DaBaby and Fat Joe.
