DeWanda Wise Recently Shared Her Battle With Depression

DeWanda Wise had an epic 2018. Her lead role in Spike Lee’s Netflix reboot of ‘She’s Gotta Have’ it received rave reviews and was renewed for a second season. She also landed a role in ‘Captain Marvel’ co-starring opposite Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, and Ben Mendelsohn.

But it seems that as wonderful as her career is, it isn’t all peaches and cream. A few days ago, the star took to Instagram to reveal her battle with depression.

“Ya girl got some pretty challenging news this week, & on this #InternationalWomensDay I find myself battling sadness & #depression. Still, I’m thankful for the highs and lows. Combined they make me both confident and compassionate. In them I find just how strong my weaknesses are. I keep hearing “Life is not happening to you, it’s happening for you” & today I’m struggling to make the truth of that stick. We have no idea what the bad news is, but fans were appreciative of her pure honesty and offered her tons of support in response.
