“Married to Medicine star Dr. Contessa Metcalfe has confirmed that she and her husband, Dr. Scott Metcalfe have separated.
The news follows a particularly rocky season of the show and allegations Dr. Scott stepped outside of his marriage.
In the sneak peek of the upcoming episode, Contessa revealed that she intends to go to therapy with her husband but became frustrated with her fellow castmates for assuming that she was to blame for the split.
“I’m confused by what Contessa is saying to Scott sometimes,” Dr. Jackie Walters says at one point. “So I would imagine Scott may be confused by the message, because one day Contessa is very upset about it, but then I see, like hey, they’re on a trip, hanging out, kicking it, what happened?”
The other ladies chimed in.
“It’s so funny you say manifest but then on Instagram you tell me to stop looking like I’m happy. I’m trying to fake it till I make it.I haven’t complained about nothing, I been hanging with y’all for four years and I ain’t complained about nothing,” she said.
On the show, we’ve seen Contessa consistently put the needs of her husband above her own. The few times she has put herself first, it has not been without complaint from Scott.
“I will stop telling y’all anything, stop putting it all on me. Stop putting it all on me! I have a lot of friends like that, that’s why I’ve been in the same suitation for 16 years,” she yelled, fighting back the tears.
Sadly, Contessa feels that she just didn’t matter in her marriage.
“I have three kids, I have three kids, the stakes are so high. I know I don’t matter, my kids matter and I want them to be okay! I’ve tried every iteration, I’ve read every book, tried every program.”
Host Andy Cohen then asked Contessa whether she had considered filing for the “D-Word.”
“Contessa has moved forward with filing,” Quad Webb revealed — meaning a filing for separation.
The episode airs on Bravo July 11.
