Former Spice Girl and talent show judge Mel B intends to set the record straight about her marriage to Stephen Belafonte. The “Want You Back” singer is set to pen a book entitled Brutally Honest.
“I have kept silent for a decade, but after a very public court case, I want to set the record straight. This book will show that abuse can happen to anyone. It is important that my three girls, who I raise as a single mother, know how to break the chain of abuse—along with any other woman who reads this book.”
Mel B endured a long, bitter divorce battle with her ex-husband. She filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage to Belafonte, alleging that he had been physically and emotionally abusive throughout their marriage.
Allegations which he has denied, but pictures of Mel B with marks and bruises have surfaced on the internet.
She claims that on the night of her Dancing with the Stars finale back in 2007, Belafonte choked her and slammed her head onto a hardwood floor and even that he punched her with a closed fist in July 2012. The reason? He felt that she flirted with Usher while taping an episode of The X Factor.
With all of the statements that her ex-hubby has been making to the press, we do not blame her for wanting to tell her side of the story. Domestic violence is never okay, and if he did do those things, Belafonte should answer for them.
