At just 13 years old, Melanie Doggett is rewriting track and field history. The Atlanta-based sprinter stunned the crowd at the Milrose Games, clocking an astonishing 7.17 seconds in the 60-meter dash—breaking her own age-13 world record.
Doggett’s time is not just impressive for her age; it ranks among the fastest collegiate performances this season, proof of her extraordinary speed.

The eighth-grader’s dominance has drawn comparisons to elite sprinters, with many labeling her a once-in-a-generation talent.
Her meteoric rise began last year when, as a 12-year-old sixth-grader at Landmark Christian School in Georgia, she ran an 11.67-second 100 meters at the Adidas Outdoor Nationals.

That mark set a new world record for 12-year-olds and broke the sixth-grade record previously held by Tamari Davis, now a professional sprinter. Even then, Doggett was running faster than some state high school champions.
With each race, Doggett continues to prove that she is a star in the making. If her record-breaking streak is any indication, the track world has only begun to witness her full potential.
